Capabilities

Every process your part needs, under one roof

As a custom CNC machining services provider, Total Manufacturing combines precision machining services, fabrication, finishing, assembly, and inspection under one roof, so procurement teams manage one accountable partner instead of coordinating multiple vendors for a single part.

The integrated advantage

One partner across the entire manufacturing process

Total Manufacturing combines precision CNC machining services with fabrication, finishing, and inspection into a single, coordinated solution, bringing the flexibility, precision, and expertise complex projects require.

01

No minimum order requirements

From first articles and prototypes to recurring low-to-medium-volume production runs, project size doesn't determine whether we take on the work, unlike many machine shops focused only on high-volume runs. There is no minimum order requirement for qualified projects.

02

Precision built into the process

Quality requirements are considered before production begins and carried through machining, in-process checks, final inspection, and documentation across CNC machined parts, backed by our ISO 9001:2015 quality system, so precision and quality control stay connected throughout production rather than treated as a final step.

03

Start-to-finish project execution

Machining, fabrication, finishing, assembly, and inspection move through one team on one schedule, reducing the delays, damage risk, and documentation gaps that come from outside handoffs.

04

Wide range of material expertise

We work across a wide range of common metals such as stainless steel, along with specialty alloys and chemical-resistant materials that are difficult to machine, with practical knowledge of how material behavior affects machining, finishing, and inspection.

How we work

The process behind every project

Every job moves through the same controlled sequence, so quality and communication never depend on a handoff between vendors.

Our Process
01 → 07
01
Quote & Contract Review
We review your CAD file, drawings, specifications, quantities, tolerances, material requirements, documentation needs, and target lead time before work begins.
02
Material Sourcing
We source the specified material and maintain the required documentation and traceability throughout production.
03
Programming
We develop the CAM programs, tooling, fixturing, and sequence of operations needed to produce the part accurately and efficiently.
04
Machining + Production
Parts move through the required machining and manufacturing operations, with in-process inspection incorporated where needed.
05
Finishing + Assembly
Required finishing, painting, specialty coatings, and mechanical assembly bring the part to its specified final condition.
06
Inspection + Documentation
Completed parts are verified against project requirements, with inspection results, material records, and required documentation prepared for delivery.
07
Delivery
Finished parts are packaged and delivered with the required documentation, with our team maintaining responsibility through final handoff.
One accountable team from the first quote through final delivery.
Need machining without the full process? We also support machining-only projects using Total-supplied or customer-supplied material when appropriate.
Dedicated project support

The team behind every project

Complex manufacturing takes more than capable equipment. Our services include engineering, project management, and front-office support, working together to keep technical requirements, schedules, communication, and documentation aligned throughout the project.

Engineering

Our engineering and programming teams review each part's drawings, tolerances, materials, and work envelope, then develop the tooling, fixturing, and CAM programs needed to move it into machining.

Project Management

Our project management team coordinates schedules and manufacturing steps, including outside processing when required, so internal handoffs don't create gaps in accountability throughout the job.

Front Office

Our front-office team manages quoting, customer communication, and order requirements, keeping material records and project documentation organized at every stage.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Have questions? Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.

What industries do you serve?

Total Manufacturing serves aerospace, defense, commercial nuclear, and custom machine builder industries that require complex, low-to-medium volume components with strict documentation requirements. Commercial nuclear work is completed through partnership with Trust Manufacturing.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. Total Manufacturing does not have a fixed minimum order requirement, unlike many machine shops that focus only on high-volume runs. Our capabilities are best suited for complex, low-to-medium volume work, including one-off or replacement machined parts, small batches, and recurring production needs, with lead times built around your project.

Can you machine complex or custom components?

Yes. Total Manufacturing is built for complex, low-to-medium volume work and can coordinate multiple computer numerical controlled (CNC) machining processes for a single part or project. Capabilities include CNC milling and turning, grinding, wire and sinker EDM, waterjet cutting, welding, fabrication, finishing, and inspection, a wide range of machining services that let us hold tight tolerances on demanding parts.

What should I look for when choosing a manufacturing partner?

Choosing the right CNC machine shop or precision machine shop goes beyond machining capabilities. Look for experience with your industry, rigorous quality systems, broad in-house manufacturing capabilities, responsive communication, and the ability to manage complex projects with fewer handoffs. These factors help reduce risk, improve consistency, and keep projects moving from quote through delivery.

What materials can Total Manufacturing machine?

We work with a wide range of materials for CNC machining, including carbon steel, alloy steel, HSLA steel, stainless steel, precipitation-hardening stainless steel, aluminum alloys, titanium, nickel alloys, Inconel, copper, brass, bronze, aluminum bronze, silicon bronze, specialty alloys, and exotic metals. Review the material categories above for specific grades and specifications.

Why work with one manufacturing partner instead of multiple suppliers?

Managing multiple suppliers often creates additional coordination, scheduling, and quality challenges. By keeping multiple manufacturing processes in-house, we reduce handoffs, improve communication, and maintain greater control throughout production.

What types of manufacturing projects does Total Manufacturing specialize in?

We specialize in complex, low-to-medium volume manufacturing for customers in regulated and high-consequence industries. Our team produces custom machine parts requiring tight tolerances, complete traceability, and consistent quality throughout production.

What is a CNC machine shop?

A CNC machine shop uses computer numerical control (CNC) technology to manufacture precision components from metal and other materials. At Total Manufacturing, CNC machining is part of a broader manufacturing process that includes multiple in-house capabilities, allowing us to deliver finished components while maintaining greater control over quality, scheduling, and production.
