Custom Fabrication

Custom metal fabrication for weldments, frames, machine bases, and other multi-process components.

Fabrication
Overview

Multi-process fabrication from cut material to finished component

Total Manufacturing fabricates custom weldments, frames, machine bases, brackets, and other structural components built to each customer's drawing. This includes work for custom machine builders, such as steel machine tables, tabletops, and mounting stands, as well as structural fabrications for other industries. Structural steel bases and frames are cut and formed from steel tubing or the material specified for the project, while thick steel plate is ground for flatness and tighter tolerances, then machined to specification on Total Manufacturing's large-capacity mills. Skilled fabricators weld the cut and formed pieces into a finished assembly, applying the same craftsmanship to a single prototype bracket as to a large structural component.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Have questions? Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.

What materials can Total Manufacturing fabricate?

Total Manufacturing fabricates a wide range of metal parts and materials, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, with customized solutions built around each metal project's specific material and tolerance requirements. As one of the custom metal fabricators offering this range in-house, Total Manufacturing can provide a cost-effective option with shorter lead times than coordinating multiple outside vendors for the same project.

Does Total Manufacturing offer custom sheet metal fabrication?

Yes. The sheet metal fabrication process is supported using cutting, forming, and welding suited to thinner gauge material, in addition to the heavier plate and structural steel fabrication Total Manufacturing regularly performs. This range allows both lightweight enclosures and heavy structural assemblies to be fabricated in the same facility.

How are tabletops and large plate components fabricated?

Tabletops and similar large plate components are fabricated from thick steel plate, surface ground for flatness and tighter tolerances, and machined to specification on Total Manufacturing's large-capacity mills. This combination of grinding and machining produces a flat, precise mounting surface on a fabricated plate component.

How are structural steel bases and frames fabricated?

Structural steel bases and frames are typically cut and formed from steel tubing, though other materials can be used based on the project's requirements. The formed sections are welded into a finished frame or base, which can then move to machining, grinding, or painting as needed. This approach supports both small brackets and large-scale structural bases within the same fabrication process.

What types of custom fabrications does Total Manufacturing build?

Total Manufacturing's metal fabrication services include weldments, frames, machine bases, brackets, and structural components, along with custom machine builder accessories like machine tables, tabletops, and mounting stands. Each fabrication is engineered around the customer's specific design and produced through a single, high-quality manufacturing process rather than adapted from a standard part.
